UMons

Several units at UMons are involved in the FoodWal portfolio.

The Proteomics and Microbiology Laboratory (ProtMic) is responsible for the coordination and scientific management of the PROTEBoost project. It is also a scientific partner in this project. ProtMic is developing processes for the production, stabilisation and concentration of purple bacteria biomass from co-products of the food industry. One of the aims of the PROTEBoost project is to convert biomass into healthy, attractive and sustainable food products. Optimising and scaling up the bioprocesses developed is also one of ProtMic’s missions.

The Systems, Estimation, Control and Optimisation Laboratory (SECO) is a scientific partner in the PROTEBoost project. SECO will put its experience in the automation and control of bioprocesses at the service of this project by developing mechanistic models describing and predicting the evolution of purple bacteria cultures in order to define and precisely control the culture conditions for optimal biomass production, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
