Several units at UNamur are involved in the FoodWal portfolio.
The Cell Biology Research Unit (URBC) of the Namur Research Institute for Life Sciences is a scientific partner in the PEPTIBoost project. Its expertise in the field of cell biology and biochemistry, particularly cell signalling, will be essential for the functional validation of the bioactive peptides developed. URBC will be responsible for the in vitro evaluation of the impact of bioactive peptides on health, in particular obesity and inflammation.
The Theoretical and Structural Physical Chemistry Unit (UCPTS) is a scientific partner in the PEPTIBoost project. Thanks to its expertise in characterising the structural and physicochemical properties of macromolecules, in particular using modelling methods, the UCPTS will generate a set of data essential for setting up an artificial neural network, a tool for predicting the hydrolysis conditions and bioactivity of bioactive peptides.
The Microorganism Biology Research Unit (URBM) is a scientific partner in the PEPTIBoost project. Its expertise in molecular microbiology, particularly in protein secretion in bacteroidetes, will be used to develop a new cellular host for the production of enzymes that catalyse the generation of innovative bioactive peptides.
